Add an SMTP account to make your Nextcloud send emails

You can use Outlook (easier) or a Gmail account.

Make sure you have your personal email configured in your 🟦 blue box “Personal info” at the 🟫brown box “Email”. You will receive the test emails at this address.

Configure your personal email to your profile

Go to “Settings” in🟩 green box, then the 🟧 orange box “Basic settings”. You should complete SMTP settings in the 🟥 red box as below.

Make a fast account and configure SMTP using Outlook

So you can use Outlook pretty easily in order to make the Nextcloud send emails to you.

1. Create an account on Outlook.

2. Put SMTP settings for Outlook in Nextcloud:

• Send mode: SMTP
• Encryption: STARTTLS
• From address: your Outlook email
• Authentication method: Login and required
• Server address: smtp-mail.outlook.com:587
• Credentials: your Outlook email and password

Then press 🟪 purple box “Save” and 🟨 yellow box “Send email”.
